Get to Know Jamie Xiong-Vang
My life has been shaped by resilience, service, and a deep commitment to justice. I was raised by Southeast Asian refugee parents who fled persecution of a brutal communist regime in search of freedom. I am proud to have been raised in Fresno and to serve the community that shaped me. As a young wife and mother, I learned the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and hard work – values that continue to guide me today.
I am currently an Administrative Law Judge. However, over the course of my career, I have developed a broad range of legal experience, including civil litigation, criminal law, family law and immigration law. I have managed my own law practice, served as a Deputy Public Defender and worked at prominent Central Valley law firms. These roles have provided me with extensive courtroom experience and a practical understanding of how the law affects individuals, families, and businesses.
Throughout my career, I have remained committed to justice, fairness, and the consistent application of the law. I believe a judge must listen carefully, apply the law as written, and treat every person who appears in court with respect and impartiality.

My career has been dedicated to serving the people of the Central Valley. I have stood in courtrooms advocating for seniors, veterans, working families, and immigrants navigating life-changing legal challenges – experiences that deepened my understanding of how legal decisions affect real lives. I have handled complex civil cases in Fresno and Tulare Counties bringing skill, preparation, and resolve to every case.
In 2023, I was appointed as an Administrative Law Judge, where I now preside over hearings statewide. Every day, I work diligently to ensure every person who appears before me is treated with respect and dignity because I know how disempowering it can feel to not be allowed to fully participate. As an Administrative Law Judge, I am called upon to make difficult, life-changing decisions that directly affect the lives of Californians. I take this responsibility seriously. I carefully listen to testimony, consider evidence without prejudgment, and apply the law fairly and impartially.
I am ready to bring that same unwavering commitment to fairness, integrity, and respect for the rule of law to the people of Fresno County.
